WHO ARE WE VOTING FOR AND WHAT DO THEY DO?
When you go to cast your vote in a local, state election do you have a clear understanding of why you are choosing the candidates that you select? Typically your choices are influenced by the media pronouncements of polls, pundits, speeches and sound bites. Most times you vote straight down Party lines with little knowledge of the official duties and responsibilities of the folks on the ballot. For example, do you know what the job of the Public Advocate or your local Councilperson is? How about your Borough President, Assemblyperson, or State Senator?
Let's take a look. Public Advocate
NYC Comptroller
NYC Council
Borough President
NYS Assembly
NYS Senate
We understand that knowledge is power. So we have presented this information in order to empower our readers who we believe will be in a stronger position by having a clearer picture of what these officials are elected to do.
